Blue Cardinal Capital, an international real estate private equity firm based in Buffalo, New York, is seeking a Chief Financial Officer. Blue Cardinal Capital focuses on second and third-tier US and Canadian cities, and provides a variety of financing solutions for developers, municipalities, and property owners. As a key member of the Executive Management team, the Chief Financial Officer will report to the Managing Partner and assume a strategic role in the overall management of the company. The CFO will have primary day-to-day responsibility for bookkeeping, financial reporting, planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial-related activities of the company. This will include familiarity with the requirements in each country and state or province that they enter, and direct responsibility for accounting, finance, taxes, forecasting, strategic planning, deal/financing analysis and negotiations, compliance, and financing.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of financial leadership experience, preferably in real estate development, property management, and/or the construction industry. Required competencies include: financial/business acumen, analytical thinking, organization, strong communication skills, comfort working independently/remotely, creativity, integrity, and results orientation.
Provides leadership in the development for the continuous evaluation of short and long-term strategic financial objectives.
Oversees bookkeeping, external accountants, and financial reporting for more than 40 corporate entities.
Coordinates fund audit responses and takes responsibility for clean audits.
Provides timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial trends and forecasts.
Takes hands-on role in developing, implementing, and maintaining the job cost system with construction partners.
Directs and oversee all aspects of the Finance & Accounting functions of the organization.
Evaluates and advises on the impact of long-range planning, introduction of new programs/ strategies and regulatory action.
Establishes and maintains strong relationships with Partners so as to identify their needs and seek full range of business solutions.
Provides executive management with advice on the financial implications of business activities.
Manages processes for financial forecasting, budgets and consolidation and reporting to the Company
Provides recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance, business opportunities and tax efficiencies.
Ensures that effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state/province and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required. An MBA and/or CPA and/or Chartered Financial Analyst is highly desirable. PC proficiency is essential (Windows environment) and exceptional knowledge of QuickBooks and Excel is preferred. Familiarity with Rent Manager is a plus.
